How-To Make Your Blowout Last Longer – 4 Tips From The Pros

Want to make your blowout last like a pro? Follow these 4 easy tips for a perfect, salon blowout provided directly from our Pure Artists on how to make sure your blowout last all week.

It’s everyone’s hair dream – a perfect, salon blowout – that lasts more than one day. Even if you’ve blown out your own hair to perfection, there’s no promising it lasts—unless you know what you’re doing. Luckily, Pure Artists Jamie Wiley and Ashley Hofstrand have the tips and tricks you need to make sure your blowout lasts longer!

Tip One: Use The Right Blow Dry Hair Products

Prep your hair before a blowout with a anti-frizz smoothing lotion to help prevent frizz and give your hair the control you’re looking for. From there, you can add an weightless, volumizing hair mousse for more volume.

Pure Artist Tip: Hofstrand suggests using a quarter-size amount of each blow dry hair product on the entire head or three dime-size amounts on three different sections you’re blowing out … that won’t leave your hair feeling sticky at all!

Tip Two: Prep For Activities

Instead of working around your blowout when you hit the gym or the yoga mat, work with it. “The ‘80s and ‘90s are coming back,” Hofstrand says. “So, don’t be afraid to rock a scrunchie or a spirally hair tie.” The less bend your elastic has, the less it’ll bend your blowout.

Pure Artist Tip: If you’re rocking a curly hair blowout, Hofstrand recommends tying it in a loose braid, which will keep the formation of the curls and wave.

Tip Three: Refresh Your Blowout

Not only is a leave-in hair treatment spray great to use before you style your hair but it’s the perfect hair treatment product to refresh your blowout afterwards. Critical – do not forget the hairspray! In fact, load up on hairspray right after your blowout and as often as you want after to make sure it lasts.

Pure Artist Tip: “A hidden gem is Style + Protect Instant Levitation Mist,” Hofstrand says. “It’s a total style refresher.” Spritz your hair with a few sprays of this lightweight, volumizing hair mist then blow dry out the dampness and you’ll see a much-improved refresh on your blowout.

Tip Four: Set Expectations Based On Your Hair Type

A hair blowout can’t last forever (sigh), but it can last longer than you think. Wiley says it all depends on your hair type. If you’ve got fine hair that requires washing nearly every day, you can expect to get at least two full days of that fresh perfection from a blowout. If your hair is on the coarser side, you might be able to squeeze a whopping five days out of a good blowout.
